마닐라 라샬 대학교

De La Salle University

1911년 천주교 수도회에 의해 설립된 사립학교로서 9명의
수사겸 교사로서 초등학교를 연 것이 현재 필리핀에서
손꼽히는 학교로 성장하게 되었다 현재 3학기 제도 입니다..

2401 Taft Avenue Manila에 위치하고 있으며 학교의 역사가 깊은
만큼 사회에서의 선후배 관계도 탄탄하다.

1911년의 초등학교가 1946년에는 중학교와 고등학교로
성장하고 1948년부터 본격적인 대학으로 발전해가게 되었다.
처음으로 들어온 대학학과는 상대(Commerce)로 지금도 라살의
으뜸 학과 중의 하나이다. 그 후 1951년 화학공학과 토목공학(도시공학)
Civil Engineering이 들어섰고 바로 1년후인 1952년 기계공학과
전자공학 그리고 산업공학이 자리잡게 되었다.

1969년에는 "The evaluation of Asian Educational Credentials"을
통해 "Group I designates a Small number of Institutions which Offer
Programs of the Highest Quality"로 인정받게 되고

현재는 130여개의
학과를 갖추고 있는 필리핀 천주교 대학이다.

물론 종교는 입학하는데 있어서 아무런 문제가 되지 않지만 학교
당국에서는 현재의 필리핀 사회를 이끌어갈 참된
크리스천의 정신을 가진 리더(지도자)를 양성하기 위해
심여를 기울이고 있으며 해외에 다른 학교들과의 문화적,
학과적 교류를 통해 세계에 필리핀 대학의 이미지 개선에
앞장서고 있다. 실제 일본의 와세다대학, 한국의 한남대,
캐나다의 University of Simonphroser등 전세계적으로 많은
대학들과 교환학생 및 많은 Program을 계획 및 교류중이다.

그리고 지금 라살 대학도서관은 필리핀에 하나밖에 설립이
안 될 유럽에 관한 모든 정보를 찾을 수 있는 부서가 1층에
자리잡게 될 것인데 이 부서를 설립하기 위해 몇 명의 유럽
지도층들이 이곳 필리핀에 있는 최고으 학교들을 방문, 가장
알맞은 장소를 설정하였는데 라살에 그 부서를 설립하기로
결정, 첫공사에 착수하고 있다.

라살은 필리핀 대학 중에 입학하기가 어려운 학교중의
하나여서 학교 전체를 통틀어 현재(학부과정) 라살의 한국인
학생 수는 10여명에 불과하고 그 수는 매년 큰 변화 없이 10여명이다.
매년 상당수의 한국 학생들이 라살 시험에 응모하고 있는
반면 아직까지는 모두 이곳 고등학교를 졸업했거나 다른 제2의
외국에서 졸업을 한 학생들이 재학중이다. 이 모든 것을
토대로, 라살은 필리핀에서 인정을 받고 세계에서도
아시아의 최고의 학교로 인정을 받고 있으며 또 최고의
학교로 인정받기 위해 끝없는 노력을 하는 학교이다.

*학교 특징

3학기제를 운영하고 있어 다른 학교와 학사 일정이 많이 다르다.

다른학교 시험이 끝나면 라살이 시험기간이고, 다른학교가 방학일때 라살은 파이널 시험을 보느라 바쁘거나 하는 편이다.  좋은점이 있다면 4년해야 할 과정을 F 학점만 없다면 3학기로 3년 만에 마칠 수 있다는 것이다.
